In my new #rooftopgarden, some things are coming easy and others surprisingly hard. I've never had a problem growing #nasturtium but suddenly I can't. On my third batch of viable seeds (courtesy of my kiddo's previous @burgerville meals), I tried pre-sprouting (wrapped in a wet napkin in a sealed container) and voila - we have life. Planted the batch in seedling soil last night and we should see my favorite edible flower & trailing vine emerge soon. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ฎ
The new location of this #farmersmarket is so great. Even though I'm starting to harvest regularly from the #rooftopgarden we'll keep up our weekly visits. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿฅฌ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒฐ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿฅงโ˜•๐ŸŒž
After one of these guys went to work on my hens in recent years, I'm not such a fan. Still, that face! ๐Ÿฆ We were surprised to see this critter sauntering around my tiny backyard this morning - made me glad I'd moved my worm bin to the porch. This visit is especially ironic because yesterday, our townhouse neighbor declared war on a rat my daughter named Templeton, who visits regularly to forage and is still sneaking thru, altho I boarded up most access points. (Rocky the Raccoon clearly has his own backstage pass.) I didn't start a full-on compost system for just this reason, altho it's killing me not to, and I'm trying to reduce the bird feeder overflow. But in a city filled with garbage-laden alleys, dinner is always near...๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ—‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ—‘๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒฒ
Super proud #plantmama and pretty much everything I preach at #sowtosavor for new gardeners. ๐ŸŒฑ Yesterday I continued thinning my early spring greens and harvested a few #frenchbreakfastradish for salad. (You know you can eat the tops, too, right?) Have I mentioned that I โค growing food SO much?
